Featured Community Event: State Sunlight-Long Fracking Public Protest - 4 PM

About this event

The League of Women Voters of Arapahoe and Douglas Counties supports better protections for nearby neighborhood residents' and school students' health and safety and for the environment. We encourage submitting public comments on these proposed wells.

Featured Community Event: JUST SAY NO: Public Protest Against Aurora Reservoir Fracking in-person.

On Tuesday we can protest to urge the Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission’s to stop the drilling plan that endangers Southeast Aurora residents' health and safety and protect the Aurora Reservoir environment.

Please help by attending the protest outside the ECMC office in Denver.

Then, on Wednesday the Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission will meet online. The public is invited to submit comments to the ECMC Commissioners, who by law are required to protect "public health, safety, and welfare”, on Docket No. 241200313 the State Sunlight-Long oil and gas drilling project.

Please help by submitting comments online, on your own behalf, opposing ECMC approval of the permit for State Sunlight-Long, a 32-well residential fracking plan just .6 miles from the Aurora Reservoir. The pad threatens water for over 400,000 residents, imperils 10,000 families and 4 schools within a 2 mile radius. Studies suggest it would double the risk of cancer in children for more than 7,800 children.

Then we can listen online to the ECMC meetings on Thursday, November 20 (drilling testimony) and Friday, November 21 (ECMC deliberations and decision).

For more information about the public's concerns for public health and safety and for impact on the Aurora Reservoir environment, see neighborhood organization Save the Aurora Reservoir's website:
  STAR website.

The Save the Aurora Reservoir website also has a link to the ECMC signup for either live testimony online Wednesday
