Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

Empoderar a los Votantes. Defiendo la Democracia.

We envision a democracy where every person
has the desire, right, knowledge, and confidence to participate.

Since its inception in 1920, the League of Women Voters has remained nonpartisan,
never endorsing or opposing particular political parties or candidates.
We believe issues and legislation remain above partisan politics
and encourage greater citizen involvement.

The League of Women Voters is a trusted voice for its advocacy and education campaigns.

Join us!

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

The League of Women Voters opposes all forms of domestic and international human trafficking
of adults and children, including sex trafficking and labor trafficking. We consider human trafficking
to be a form of modern-day slavery and believe that every measure should be taken, and every effort
should be made through legislation and changes in public policy to prevent human trafficking.

During this month, we celebrate the efforts of foreign governments, international organizations,
anti-trafficking entities, law enforcement officials, survivor advocates, communities of faith, businesses,
and private citizens all around the world to raise awareness about human trafficking.

There are estimated to be more than 27.6 million people, adults and children, subjected to human trafficking
around the world, including in the United States.

For assistance, contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline:
by phone at 1-888-373-7888
or by text at 233733
